ApoB

ApoB

What is ApoB?

Apolipoprotein B or apoB as it is know is a protein that plays a role in the metabolism of lipids, particularly cholesterol. High levels of apo-B are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, such as heart disease and stroke. Lipoproteins got their name because they are made up of fats (lipids) such as cholesterol, triglycerides, and proteins. Finding new naturals ways to reduce apo-B levels can be beneficial to your heart health.

ApoBs are found in lipoprotein particles that are artery clogging. The importance of ApoB in major vascular disease has become increasingly clear. The ApoB containing particles that are most damaging to our arteries include not only LDL cholesterol but also remnants of VLDL (very low-density lipoproteins. LDL, VLDL or non-HDL cholesterol promote atherosclerosis. (1) Higher ApoB was also associated with higher risks of coronary heart disease and stroke.( 2)

This does not downplay the role of elevated LDL and triglycerides, but rather underline that ApoB is necessary for them to exert their effects.

Solutions to Reduce ApoB

Probiotics:

Certain strains of Lactobacillus plantarum are a type of beneficial bacteria found in many fermented foods, including yogurt, sauerkraut, and kimchi. Research suggests that certain strains of L. plantarum may have potential health benefits, including reducing levels of apolipoprotein B (apo-B) for cardiovascular health.

Studies have shown that L. plantarum can positively influence lipid metabolism and reduce levels of apo-B in the blood. One mechanism by which it may achieve this is by modulating the gut microbiota and improving the balance of beneficial bacteria in the gut. Additionally, L. plantarum may directly affect cholesterol metabolism through various pathways.

Plant Sterols:

Plant sterols are an amazing tool to be used in the reduction of total cholesterol levels.  They are able to block the receptors in the gut that normally absorb fats.  His quality plant sterols combined with the right strains of probiotics can help to reduce cholesterol levels like LDL, triglycerides and apoB.

Another tool to help accomplish this reduction in LDL cholesterol and apoB is Sterochol a patented blend of probiotics, plant sterols and ashwagandha for stress relief.  Sterochol can reduce cholesterol levels by 20-35% and reduce cholesterol absorption by 60%.  It is an all natural combination of supplements approved by Health Canada and manufactured in Canada ensuring the highest quality.
