PROSTATE ENLARGEMENT (BPH)

The majority of men older than 50 years will be affected by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), better known as enlargement of the prostate. The balance of hormones in our bodies changes as we get older and this may cause the prostate gland to grow, leading to an enlarged prostate – a condition that affects about 90% of men of age and causes urinary problems. Luckily, beta-sitosterol, a major component of Celt Naturals Immuno-Care® is one of the most effective natural, plant-derived options available that accomplishes the goal of symptom relief and helps treat and manage BPH.

What Causes Prostate Enlargement (BPH)?

Benign prostatic hyperplasia affects about 50 % of men between the ages of 51 and 60 and up to 90% of men older than 80. The direct cause of prostate enlargement is unknown, but it is believed to be linked to hormonal changes as men get older, which may cause the prostate gland to grow. The prostate goes through two main growth periods – the first occurs early in puberty when the prostate doubles in size. The second phase begins in adolescence and continues during most of a man’s life. Prostate enlargement often occurs with the second growth phase.

Why is prostate enlargement a problem?

Even though enlargement of the prostate is benign (non-cancerous), when the prostate gland enlarges, it presses on the urethra (the tube that transports urine and semen to the outside of the body). Even the smallest increase in the size of the prostate gland can cause urinary problems. Eventually, the bladder may weaken and lose the ability to empty completely. The narrowing of the urethra and urinary retention causes many of the problems associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Prostate Enlargement (BPH) Symptoms

The severity of symptoms in people who have prostate gland enlargement varies, but symptoms tend to gradually worsen over time. Common signs and symptoms of BPH include:

  •       Frequent or urgent need to urinate
  •       Increased frequency of urination at night (nocturia)
  •       Difficulty starting urination
  •       Weak urine stream or a stream that stops and starts
  •       Dribbling at the end of urination
  •       Inability to completely empty the bladder
  •       Pain or burning sensation

Less common signs and symptoms of prostate enlargement include:

  •       Urinary tract infection
  •       Inability to urinate
  •       Blood in the urine

The size of your prostate doesn’t necessarily determine the severity of your symptoms. Some men with only slightly enlarged prostates can have significant symptoms, while other men with very enlarged prostates can have only minor urinary symptoms.

Prostate Enlargement (BPH) Symptom Relief and Treatment with Immuno-Care®

Numerous studies have shown that plant sterol, particularly β-Sitosterol (beta-sitosterol) decreases symptoms of an enlarged prostate[1]. A single capsule of Immuno-Care provides you with 300mg of plant sterols. Clinical studies also show that beta-sitosterol, a major component of Celt Naturals Immuno-Care, is one of the most effective plant-derived options available for treating and managing BPH. It can successfully increase urinary flow and reduce the bothersome, frequent bathroom visits.
